Air Canada’s largest regional partner, Jazz airline, has been named one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for the seventh consecutive year, in an annual national employer survey by Mediacorp Canada Inc.
Canada’s Best Diversity Employers recognizes employers across the country that have exceptional workplace diversity and inclusiveness programs. These include successful diversity initiatives in a variety of areas, including programs for employees from five groups: women; members of visible minorities; persons with disabilities; Aboriginal peoples; and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered/transsexual (LGBT) people.
In recognizing Jazz with the award, the editors of Mediacorp praised the airline for the following initiatives:
- A corporate strategy to support mental health in the workplace, including participation in the Not Myself Today program to build greater awareness and understanding of mental health.
- A dedicated Aboriginal recruitment web page and working with several community partners to reach out to Aboriginal candidates. Additionally, members of the company’s Aboriginal employee resource group offer mentoring to students from First Nations Technical Institute and Confederation College.
- The Jazz Aviation Pathway Award for Professionalism and Diversity, a $3,000 scholarship awarded to a full-time student in their final year who self identifies as Aboriginal, a person with a disability, a visible minority or female for outstanding contributions to safety, leadership and professionalism.
