On April 2, after filling up on crispy pata, a popular Filipino dish featuring deep-fried pork leg and ube (purple yam) cheesecake, passengers made history, boarding Air Canada’s inaugural flight from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL).
Those travelling through YVR on April 1 also experienced Filipino dance and musical performances in honour of the new flight, which will operate year-round, four times weekly.
Manila represents Air Canada’s 12th Asia-Pacific destination, with YVR service and the airline’s first direct service to the Philippines.
