Vancouver International Airport Authority has committed to creating an accessible airport for all and, on July 25, introduced an exciting pilot project: self-driving robotic pods.
Developed by Vancouver-based A&K Robotics, the self-driving pods provide another accessibility option for passengers needing assistance when travelling through YVR.
The pods, equipped with real-time mapping software, are being trialled with employees, members of the accessibility community and, eventually, travellers.
This phased approach ensures the pods will be safely integrated into the airport environment and allows for continuous feedback-based improvement, ensuring they meet the unique needs of all travellers.
