Swiss National Day was August 1 and in celebration YVR hosted themed events and activities centred around Switzerland.
The Consulate General of Switzerland in Vancouver, Pascal Bornoz, organized performances by a Swiss alphorn and yodelling band to wish guests bon voyage on their flight from YVR and a happy Swiss National Day.
Chocolates from Switzerland’s most famous chocolatier, Lindt, were distributed at Air Canada’s Maple Leaf Lounge at YVR.
Air Canada and SWISS offer up to nine weekly, non-stop flights between Vancouver and Zurich from May to October.
Additionally, from now until September 29, an exhibition of works by Swiss-French artist Alberto Giacometti, best known for his iconic sculptures of solitary human figures with unbelievable long arms and legs, will be on display at the Vancouver Art Gallery.
