Tofino-Ucluelet-Long Beach Airport to receive $248,200 for new runway sweeper

The Tofino-Ucluelet-Long Beach Airport is receiving $248,200 through the Canadian Government’s Airports Capital Assistance Program (ACAP).

The funding is being provided for the replacement of a runway sweeper. The new sweeper will ensure the timely and effective removal of snow, slush and ice from runways and taxiways.

To date, through ACAP, the Tofino-Ucluelet-Long Beach Airport has received more than $4.4-million for two projects, including the $248,200, announced on July 4, 2013.

Since the ACAP program started, the Government of Canada has invested more than $606-million for 751 projects at 174 airports. Improvements include purchasing/replacing heavy airside mobile equipment; installing wildlife fencing; and rehabilitating runway pavements, airfield lighting and electrical systems.
